Perhaps a blow to the creative powers of this city is the lack of encouragement. I hear a lot of “Joplin sucks,” but I don’t see a lot of pats on the back. If you tell a young little league star he sucks all the time, he’ll probably quit baseball. So now, every year on October 1st, I will award area businesses for doing a good job.
Ladies and Gentlemen, for the first time, I introduce to you:
“The Besties” are an annual award given out by the editors of Colbyintheraw to say “job well done” to the people attempting to make this area great. The competition was tough, but these places offered something more. Each winner will receive a certificate that they may display however they would like.
